Axpo Group

The Axpo Group owns 85% of Calenia Energia.

Axpo is Switzerland’s leading electricity company, specialising in energy generation, distribution and trading. With over three million customers it has subsidiaries in over 30 European countries, the United States and Asia, and is active in the main European stock exchanges.

The Group has been present in Italy through Axpo Italia since 2000, which was a period of transition to the free market. The headquarters are located in Genoa, but the Group plays an important role throughout the country with its combined cycle thermal power plants and wind farms.

Hera Group

The Hera Group is headquartered in Bologna and is one of the largest national multiutility companies. The group has been listed on the stock exchange since 2003 and it currently owns 15% of the shares of Calenia Energia SpA. The Group specialises in the supply of energy and environmental services:

A look at the Axpo Group in Italy: production assets

The Axpo Group has implemented an expansive business plan in order to become an energy producer in Italy through the direct construction of power plants, in addition to the acquisition of energy produced by third-party plants. The Italian generation facilities are combined cycle plants classified as individual operating companies, with a capacity of 760 MW.

Axpo Italia Power Plants

Axpo boasts an Italian fleet of combined cycle power plants with an installed capacity of 1,800 MW (based on Axpo’s stake), which represents one of the largest investments in the construction of new power plants and a significant technological commitment to energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
