Calenia Energia SpA, 85% owned by the EGL Group and 15% owned by the HERA Group, is the company that built and currently operates the 760 MW thermoelectric power plant in the municipality of Sparanise in the province of Caserta.

Situated in the “ex Pozzi” industrial area of Sparanise, the combined-cycle power plant operated by Calenia Energia SpA features state-of-the-art thermoelectric technology, both in terms of the quest for energy efficiency and the minimisation of environmental impact.

The plant opened in 2007 and is the first step by the Swiss group to procure its own production capacity in Italy, while at the same time meet the domestic demand for energy which cannot be covered by the available capacity.
The project was developed through substantial investment backed by international project financing.

Calenia Energia SpA has its registered and administrative headquarters in Genoa.
